The youngest and last legitimate child of [[House Lucretia]], born after the mysterious death of their late father. Vies for the affection of their mother, [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]] but never attained the care they desired. Instead, they spent much of their childhood occupied by the epics and poetry in their education, and became infatuated with the myths of heroes and gods. Because of the lack of attention from their mother, Cinna often snuck away from the grounds of the domus to observe and intermingle with plebeians, curious about their occupations and livelihoods. On these excursions, they bore witness to the laws and help provided by their mother’s work and the influence of [[House Lucretia]] and grew to respect her and the values of the House in spite of her neglect. After reaching adulthood, Cinna followed their eldest sister in the church and found routine in the structure of rites and procedure.

Outwardly, they are cordial and friendly to all, as their eldest sister, [[Octavia Lucretia Verus Helvia]] had raised them to be. They think fondly of their cousins and of their sisters, and often jab playfully or engage in banter with them. Inwardly, they harbour harsh and persisting grievances against their mother, as well as the family’s illegitimate children, whom they believe to have undeservedly won the affection and attention of the matriarch in the form of sponsorships and support. Still, they hope desperately to still be of use to the house and their mother, and value their mother’s honor— whom they believe embodies the values of House Lucretia— above all else.

As a personal hobby, they still enjoy hiding away to listen to the tales and shenanigans of plebeian acquaintances they’ve made over the years, obsessed with the various lives being led within the same Republic. They enjoy hunting down unlikely stories and myths that have yet to be documented in the written works of poets and playwrights, especially those that are first spread amongst commonfolk or the working citizens of the Republic from conquests far from the capital.

Initially known for their staunch '''pro-plebeian stance''' in the Senate, the exorbitant wage paid to their plebeian estate staff, and their charity work during the bread shortage, their mater familias [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]] would eventually drastically shift the public opinion towards their family following her demotion from the senate, and leave the once-noble house in a position of '''uncertainty''' and '''disgrace'''.

Their current matriarch is [[Octavia Lucretia Verus Helvia]], the eldest daughter of the late matriarch.

== Origins ==
House Lucretia is a long-standing patrician family with a lengthy history and generations of honor to uphold. Historically, they have been present since the Kingdom of Rome, and played a pivotal role in overthrowing the Etruscan Kings.

In the present days, they focus on mercantile institutions— markets, guilds, and trade— and desire to uphold personal justice and fairness in their operations. As such, private wealth and resources have never been a particular concern to them, and they seek to spread welfare to those who deserve it. Public interest and the preservation of a republic serve them best in continuing their operations. Those who ally and work with them fondly will be met with generous reparations, while those who act against the interests of the people and impede on the preservation of prosperity will also be met with a suitable degree of recompense.

They also piously worship the goddess Minerva and lord Mercury, as part of their investment in trade and merchantry, of whom they make regular sacrifices and offerings to.

Aemilia was the late matriarch (mater familias) of the Lucretia family. Raised as a loyalist to Rome, she worked tirelessly both for the management of the household and for the management of the nation.

During her work as a senator, she passed multiple notable bills, including the '''Civil Business bill''', the bill dictating the formation of a judiciary branch and the civilian right to trial. While controversial to the optimates, the matriarch was also deeply sympathetic to the plebeian class, passing and proposing open senate floor meetings, civilian governor elections, tax restructuring policies, worker food stipends, plebeian grain rights, and more. Her policies led to her friendship with the Tribune [[Marcus Verus Sol]] and [[Lucius Aurelion-Vulpēculus]] prior to her demotion.

In her later life, after many decades had passed after the former matriarch consort’s death, she solicited a relationship with [[Aesta Vilica]], the plebeian Lucretia estate manager. The two were given blessings by the other estate staff for the relationship in spite of its controversy, before Aesta was then outed for practising heresy and worshipping the Greek goddess Athena on the estate grounds. She was seized by senator [[Lucius Aurelion-Vulpēculus]], judge [[Rubricus Fulgens]], Chief Priest [[Cinna Lucretia Cento]], as well as other members of their party both from the clergy and [[House Aurelion]]. After her apprehension at the Lucretia estate, she was escorted to the Temple of Jupiter, but after being possessed by the heretic god Mithras, Aesta received a fatal wound and died in the arms of the Lucretia matriarch during [[Aesta Vilica's Trial]].

After this, Aemilia was tried due to initially resisting Aesta’s arrest and for housing, marrying, and giving a plebeian the resources to become a heretic. Here, she was demoted and sentenced to house arrest, as well as duties serving the temple under the then Pontifex Maximus, Beneminius Fulminii.

However, due to his neglect and dereliction of his duties at the time, Aemilia escaped monitoring and staged a plot to ‘restore the balance of the Republic’, leading the ignorant staff of the Lucretia estate to carry out seizure of the Treasury with her uncle’s help, as well as fall prey to and worship in the [[Cult of Mithras]]. Acting as the uncle of the late Lucretia matriarch, Publius was raised in Rome and took up residence in the Lucretia estate in the capital due to his position as the Governor of Mining. After having served Rome loyally for many years, in his later tenure, he began pocketing funds from the state-owned mining facilities through his decades of built-up relationships with many of the officials involved.

Prioritising money and power above all else, his friendship with members of Legio V allowed him to carry out the [[Heist of the Treasury]] as per Aemilia’s plans with their aid, first changing the locks on the entrance to the Treasury and preventing legionnaire wages from being paid, leading to a revolt, and later stealing 250K denarii and disappearing with them by dispersing the liquidised assets among trusted accomplices. He was executed in custody following his arrest, the stolen denarius never recovered.

===[[Octavia Lucretia Verus Helvia]]===
Formerly known as '''Octavia Lucretia Tricipinus''', she is the eldest of the three daughters of [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. Known as a graceful and friendly socialite in her youth, Octavia rose to the position as the current matriarch of the Lucretia family following her mother’s death. Because of the Lucretia sisters’ standing with the clergy, their patrician title was never revoked in spite of the late matriarch’s fall from grace.

In her personal life, Octavia is close friends with Chief Priest [[Nefarius Umbrum Porpus]] and many members of the [[Servi Dramatis]]. In spite of their difference in status, she married Octavia Verus Helvia due to their shared history and propensity for the arts. She was friendly and well-loved by the servants of the Lucretia estate, with Octavia treating many of them like family.

During her mother’s revolt, she took part unwillingly and was not aware of the true extent of Aemilia’s crimes, later focusing on sheltering the other unwillingly implicated members of the estate from execution after her mother’s death. She would inherit the estate after the trials of all estate members and participants in the revolt were completed, and she would re-hire and take in many of those still remaining from the original estate staff.

The second daughter of [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. While not as pious as her sisters, Sinus served as a legionnaire in Legio III, and was tried and interrogated as part of the seizure of Legio III prior to her mother’s demotion in senate.

She was previously engaged and married to [[Nicus Cato]], before breaking off their arrangement after her mother’s removal from senate following Aesta’s death. During Aemilia’s revolt, she took part in slaying two consuls, multiple legionnaires, and hiding her mother from the search party seeking to apprehend her while also worshipping the heretic god Mithras. Later, she would lure [[Metella Cento]], the chief blacksmith of the Lucretia estate, to the amphitheatre before murdering her and putting her head on a pike.

She would be arrested for her participation in Aemilia’s revolt, but spared of execution due to her status. Because of the lack of witnesses tying her to Metella’s death, it would be pinned on [[Pancakeus Umbra]] who murdered another Roman in a similar manner, and was currently being tried for heresy. Sinus would walk free, though both her sisters urged her to leave Rome due to the public sentiment towards her.

Before Sinis fled Rome, [[Jestius Cento]], Metella’s adoptive brother, would force her to cut off her right arm after discovering her involvement in his sister’s murder.

===[[Cinna Lucretia Cento]]===
Formerly known as '''Cinna Lucretia Tricipinus''', she was the youngest daughter of [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. Raised originally as her mother’s heir, she was pushed to enter the [[Roman Clergy]] and rose to a position of Chief Priest as the Pontifex Caeli. Later, due to the Pontifices going missing after the massacre of House Verus, she rose to power alongside [[Nefarius Umbrum Porpus]] and [[Jianna]].

From childhood, she was a close confidant and associate in her mother’s machinations behind the scenes, acting as an anonymous chief writer in the '''Res Publica''' and dealing and gathering intel for her mother’s plans. She is also a director in the [[Servi Dramatis]] for much of the same reason; her mother’s emphasis on controlling media sentiment.

Alongside Octavia and Niveus, she took part in assisting her mother with her senatorial duties, drafting and working on bills with Aemilia in her later life, such as the Stability Act, the Courtesy Act, and Aemilia’s push for judiciary powers. With Niveus and her uncle Publius, both assisted him in his embezzlement from the treasury.

Within the clergy, Cinna was inserted as part of her mother’s hopes to monitor the unrest in the Republic, and while pious, was not especially devout prior to entering the temple. As time passed, she grew close to members of the clergy, such as Judge [[Rubricus Fulgens]], [[Eugenia]], and her childhood friend [[Lucius Aurelion-Vulpēculus]]. The four would eventually band together to form the '''Heretic Hunters''' unofficially, as they were designated the responsibility of investigating the activities of heretics in Rome, specifically the [[Cult of Mithras]], because of their overwhelming achievement alongside Legion II in apprehending cultists.

Due to her friendship with these three, she would eventually betray her mother during her [[Aemilia's Revolt]], choosing to side with those seeking to apprehend and trial her. Her participation in aiding in her mother’s capture, as well as her being the initial informant of Aemilia’s plans, would exclude her guilt in the subsequent Lucretia trials.

Months after her mother’s death and after the trials conclude, she would be wedded to [[Jestius Cento]].

===[[Nahri Lucretia Argentarius]]===
An illegitimate daughter from a branch family of the main house, she is the plebeian half-sister of [[Niveus Lucretia Argentarius]]. Nahri moved to the capital as an aide and servant of her half-brother, and worked as an administrator in the Treasury.

Eventually, her care for Niveus, his desperate urge to prove himself to the Lucretia matriarch, and her position in the Treasury would lead to her being a key figure in [[Publius Lucretia Favonius]]’ Treasury heist, with Nahri being responsible for entering and changing the combination lock. She would flee Rome with the new keys, her fate unknown to even her brother.

The eldest son of a branch family of the Lucretia family. He was handpicked by the Lucretia matriarch after observing his promising business acumen from a young age during visits to the capital with his parents, and later sponsored and brought into the capital for the same reason.

As opposed to the three direct descendants of the main house, Niveus was staunchly dedicated to the mercantile work of Lucretia, and was the reason for the '''Lucretia Market''''s success

Though not necessarily upstanding at all times, Niveus’ unconventional but devoted business methods allowed him to thoroughly eliminate competition in the long run, sabotaging other organisations such as [[BreadCorp]], guiding their late leader’s ambitions that would eventually drive him to death and the group’s decline. He would also conspire with his accomplices to poison supplies of bread supplied in the group’s later days to charity groups, decreasing their credibility while handing out his own supplies to gain favorability. The ludicrous benefits of secure transactions and customers brought about by the Lucretia market under his jurisdiction led to many independent vendors associating or establishing stalls and branches in its vicinity, and Niveus would make profits of tens of thousands of denarii per day.

His bold success as a merchant was instrumental to Lucretia’s financing of their generous staff wages, which ensured part of the loyalty their estate workers had that prevented an earlier usurpal in the matriarch’s plans, as well as the later return of many of them to their positions after Octavia rose to the position of mater familias.

Niveus’ dedication to merchant work was partly due to his relationship with his half-sister, Nahri, whom he takes care of and feels deeply responsible for. His fixation on commerce as a means to surpass the typical gap between patrician and plebeian was born about by their different treatments in childhood in spite of being nominal siblings, and his devotion to the Lucretia matriarch both before and after her death was due to her insistence on retaining equal opportunities and rights for patricians and plebeians.

Like many of the other Lucretia children, Niveus would also be romantically involved with a man of plebeian birth by the name of [[Atticus Eirena]], and Niveus would later attempt to take his own life in the Temple of Jupiter upon hearing news of his passing during the [[Optimates Rebellion]] on the battlefield. Comforted by another plebeian bearing the same pink hair as his lover, said plebeian would then murder Niveus in his home, though his body and death would never be discovered. He spent all of his free time tending to the temples or preaching to the masses in the streets. The recent years had seen a great increase in heresy and instability throughout the city, and he saw this as a test from the gods—to fix what should have never become broken.

After the emergency anti-heresy measures were put in place, Nefarius made his best attempt to find and root out the evil heretics that plagued Rome. He went through the streets, and this is where he first encountered the [[Cult of Mithras]]. Although the appearance of the demon was that of a harmless bunny, this false god almost killed Nefarius and a couple of other Chief Priests. That is when he realized that the rot would never be purged unless the whole city rose to fight it, and so he decided to try and join the Senate.

His campaign to join the Senate was successful, and at first, things were good. He felt like he was reconnecting with his family and cousins again, but quickly this fragile perception was shattered. The Senate could never accomplish anything. They debated and fought over unimportant affairs... Lack of bread? Economics? War with the outside world? How could any of those things be more important than making the gods happy again? How could they not see that the gods were the only salvation for Rome? The Senate was foolish, and it only got worse with time.

When [[Monkeus Vinarius]] was assassinated and his family slaughtered during the rebellion, Nefarius lost faith in the government and decided to take things into his own hands. The Vinarius were chosen of Saturn; one of the heirs to the family was a Chief Priest... they were the only ones who still spoke to a god... How could the city let this happen? He then started to plot and quickly rose in power inside the Church, running more inquisitions and gathering more extremist believers. He made new friends and allies who shared his beliefs, such as Chief Priest [[Cinna Lucretia Cento]], [[Octavia Lucretia Verus Helvia]], [[Romilia Agnius Marcella]], and aeditui Creeper.

But while he was trying his best to save the city, the city pushed back... His own cousins were found guilty of heresy. Since a very young age, Nefarius had found a calling to serve alongside the priests of the temples. Throughout his entire life, he was constantly overwhelmed with a feeling of never doing enough... every prayer, every sacrifice, and all the time spent serving at the temples could always be more. In his eyes, Rome had fallen from the Divine path it was supposed to follow long ago. The people worried more about politics, wars, and a million other useless things, when a clear solution was right in front of their eyes. The gods were grand, they possessed unimaginable power, and through unconditional worship, they would save them.

This obsession with serving the gods, and the feeling of never being enough, led him to distance himself even from his family. He spent all of his free time tending to the temples or preaching to the masses in the streets. Along the way, he met a myriad of priests and people he came to admire greatly, such as Chief Priest [[Donutella Vinarius]] and Chief Priest [[Aster]].

Nefarius spent most of his time trying to continue serving the Temple, while Rome had already strayed from the path it was supposed to follow. The recent years had seen a great increase in heresy and instability throughout the city, and he saw this as a test from the gods—to fix what should have never become broken.

After the emergency anti-heresy measures were put in place, Nefarius made his best attempt to find and root out the evil heretics that plagued Rome. He went through the streets, and this is where he first encountered the [[Cult of Mithras]]. Although the appearance of the demon was that of a harmless bunny, this false god almost killed Nefarius and a couple of other Chief Priests. That is when he realized that the rot would never be purged unless the whole city rose to fight it, and so he decided to try and join the Senate.

His campaign to join the Senate was successful, and at first, things were good. He felt like he was reconnecting with his family and cousins again, but quickly this fragile perception was shattered. The Senate could never accomplish anything. They debated and fought over unimportant affairs... Lack of bread? Economics? War with the outside world? How could any of those things be more important than making the gods happy again? How could they not see that the gods were the only salvation for Rome? The Senate was foolish, and it only got worse with time.

When [[Monkeus Vinarius]] was assassinated and his family slaughtered during the rebellion, Nefarius lost faith in the government and decided to take things into his own hands. The Vinarius were chosen of Saturn; one of the heirs to the family was a Chief Priest... they were the only ones who still spoke to a god... How could the city let this happen? He then started to plot and quickly rose in power inside the Church, running more inquisitions and gathering more extremist believers. He made new friends and allies who shared his beliefs, such as Chief Priest [[Cinna Lucretia Cento]], [[Octavia Lucretia Verus Helvia]], [[Romilia Agnius Marcella]], and aeditui Creeper.

But while he was trying his best to save the city, the city pushed back... His own cousins were found guilty of heresy. His own cousin, [[Divinia Umbria Icilia]], was found guilty of treason and staged another civil war, which brought even more suffering to Rome. And so, Nefarius decided to step up and try to take things into his own hands one last time.

Initially known for their staunch '''pro-plebeian stance''' in the Senate, the exorbitant wage paid to their plebeian estate staff, and their charity work during the bread shortage, their mater familias [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]] would eventually drastically shift the public opinion towards their family following her demotion from the senate, and leave the once-noble house in a position of '''uncertainty''' and '''disgrace'''.

== Origins ==
House Lucretia is a long-standing patrician family with a lengthy history and generations of honor to uphold. Historically, they have been present since the Kingdom of Rome, and played a pivotal role in overthrowing the Etruscan Kings.

In the present days, they focus on mercantile institutions— markets, guilds, and trade— and desire to uphold personal justice and fairness in their operations. As such, private wealth and resources have never been a particular concern to them, and they seek to spread welfare to those who deserve it. Public interest and the preservation of a republic serve them best in continuing their operations. Those who ally and work with them fondly will be met with generous reparations, while those who act against the interests of the people and impede on the preservation of prosperity will also be met with a suitable degree of recompense.

They also piously worship the goddess Minerva and lord Mercury, as part of their investment in trade and merchantry, of whom they make regular sacrifices and offerings to.

Aemilia was the late matriarch (mater familias) of the Lucretia family. Raised as a loyalist to Rome, she worked tirelessly both for the management of the household and for the management of the nation.

During her work as a senator, she passed multiple notable bills, including the '''Civil Business bill''', the bill dictating the formation of a judiciary branch and the civilian right to trial. While controversial to the optimates, the matriarch was also deeply sympathetic to the plebeian class, passing and proposing open senate floor meetings, civilian governor elections, tax restructuring policies, worker food stipends, plebeian grain rights, and more. Her policies led to her friendship with the Tribune [[Marcus Verus Sol]] and [[Lucius Aurelion-Vulpēculus]] prior to her demotion.

In her later life, after many decades had passed after the former matriarch consort’s death, she solicited a relationship with [[Aesta Vilica]], the plebeian Lucretia estate manager. The two were given blessings by the other estate staff for the relationship in spite of its controversy, before Aesta was then outed for practising heresy and worshipping the Greek goddess Athena on the estate grounds. She was seized by senator [[Lucius Aurelion-Vulpēculus]], judge [[Rubricus Fulgens]], Chief Priest [[Cinna Lucretia Cento]], as well as other members of their party both from the clergy and [[House Aurelion]]. After her apprehension at the Lucretia estate, she was escorted to the Temple of Jupiter, but after being possessed by the heretic god Mithras, Aesta received a fatal wound and died in the arms of the Lucretia matriarch during [[Aesta Vilica's Trial]].

After this, Aemilia was tried due to initially resisting Aesta’s arrest and for housing, marrying, and giving a plebeian the resources to become a heretic. Here, she was demoted and sentenced to house arrest, as well as duties serving the temple under the then Pontifex Maximus, Beneminius Fulminii.

However, due to his neglect and dereliction of his duties at the time, Aemilia escaped monitoring and staged a plot to ‘restore the balance of the Republic’, leading the ignorant staff of the Lucretia estate to carry out seizure of the Treasury with her uncle’s help, as well as fall prey to and worship in the [[Cult of Mithras]]. After slaying multiple legionnaires and two consuls during [[Aemilia's Revolt]], she was finally apprehended by [[Flavius Zekor Gracchus]] and Legio IV, killed during arrest after refusing to comply in time with their demands to drop her weapons.

===[[Publius Lucretia Favonius]]===
Acting as the uncle of the late Lucretia matriarch, Publius was raised in Rome and took up residence in the Lucretia estate in the capital due to his position as the Governor of Mining. After having served Rome loyally for many years, in his later tenure, he began pocketing funds from the state-owned mining facilities through his decades of built-up relationships with many of the officials involved.

Prioritising money and power above all else, his friendship with members of Legio V allowed him to carry out the [[Heist of the Treasury]] as per Aemilia’s plans with their aid, first changing the locks on the entrance to the Treasury and preventing legionnaire wages from being paid, leading to a revolt, and later stealing 250K denarii and disappearing with them by dispersing the liquidised assets among trusted accomplices. He was executed in custody following his arrest, the stolen denarius never recovered.

===[[Octavia Lucretia Verus Helvia]]===
Formerly known as '''Octavia Lucretia Tricipinus''', she is the eldest of the three daughters of [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. Known as a graceful and friendly socialite in her youth, Octavia rose to the position as the current matriarch of the Lucretia family following her mother’s death. Because of the Lucretia sisters’ standing with the clergy, their patrician title was never revoked in spite of the late matriarch’s fall from grace.

In her personal life, Octavia is close friends with Chief Priest [[Nefarius Umbrum Porpus]] and many members of the [[Servi Dramatis]]. In spite of their difference in status, she married Octavia Verus Helvia due to their shared history and propensity for the arts. She was friendly and well-loved by the servants of the Lucretia estate, with Octavia treating many of them like family.

During her mother’s revolt, she took part unwillingly and was not aware of the true extent of Aemilia’s crimes, later focusing on sheltering the other unwillingly implicated members of the estate from execution after her mother’s death. She would inherit the estate after the trials of all estate members and participants in the revolt were completed, and she would re-hire and take in many of those still remaining from the original estate staff.

===[[Sinis Lucretia Tricipinus]]===
The second daughter of [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. While not as pious as her sisters, Sinus served as a legionnaire in Legio III, and was tried and interrogated as part of the seizure of Legio III prior to her mother’s demotion in senate.

She was previously engaged and married to [[Nicus Cato]], before breaking off their arrangement after her mother’s removal from senate following Aesta’s death. During Aemilia’s revolt, she took part in slaying two consuls, multiple legionnaires, and hiding her mother from the search party seeking to apprehend her while also worshipping the heretic god Mithras. Later, she would lure [[Metella Cento]], the chief blacksmith of the Lucretia estate, to the amphitheatre before murdering her and putting her head on a pike.

She would be arrested for her participation in Aemilia’s revolt, but spared of execution due to her status. Because of the lack of witnesses tying her to Metella’s death, it would be pinned on [[Pancakeus Umbra]] who murdered another Roman in a similar manner, and was currently being tried for heresy. Sinus would walk free, though both her sisters urged her to leave Rome due to the public sentiment towards her.

Before Sinis fled Rome, [[Jestius Cento]], Metella’s adoptive brother, would force her to cut off her right arm after discovering her involvement in his sister’s murder.

===[[Cinna Lucretia Cento]]===
Formerly known as '''Cinna Lucretia Tricipinus''', she was the youngest daughter of [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. Raised originally as her mother’s heir, she was pushed to enter the [[Roman Clergy]] and rose to a position of Chief Priest as the Pontifex Caeli. Later, due to the Pontifices going missing after the massacre of House Verus, she rose to power alongside [[Nefarius Umbrum Porpus]] and [[Jianna]].

From childhood, she was a close confidant and associate in her mother’s machinations behind the scenes, acting as an anonymous chief writer in the '''Res Publica''' and dealing and gathering intel for her mother’s plans. She is also a director in the [[Servi Dramatis]] for much of the same reason; her mother’s emphasis on controlling media sentiment.

Alongside Octavia and Niveus, she took part in assisting her mother with her senatorial duties, drafting and working on bills with Aemilia in her later life, such as the Stability Act, the Courtesy Act, and Aemilia’s push for judiciary powers. With Niveus and her uncle Publius, both assisted him in his embezzlement from the treasury.

Within the clergy, Cinna was inserted as part of her mother’s hopes to monitor the unrest in the Republic, and while pious, was not especially devout prior to entering the temple. As time passed, she grew close to members of the clergy, such as judge [[Rubricus Fulgens]], [[Eugenia]], and [[Lucius Aurelion-Vulpēculus]]. The four would eventually band together to form the '''Heretic Hunters''' unofficially, as they were designated the responsibility of investigating the activities of heretics in Rome, specifically the [[Cult of Mithras]], because of their overwhelming achievement alongside Legion II in apprehending cultists.

Due to her friendship with these three, she would eventually betray her mother during her [[Aemilia's Revolt]], choosing to side with those seeking to apprehend and trial her. Her participation in aiding in her mother’s capture, as well as her being the initial informant of Aemilia’s plans, would exclude her guilt in the subsequent Lucretia trials.

Months after her mother’s death and after the trials conclude, she would be wedded to [[Jestius Cento]].

===[[Nahri Lucretia Argentarius]]===
An illegitimate daughter from a branch family of the main house, she is the plebeian half-sister of [[Niveus Lucretia Argentarius]]. Nahri moved to the capital as an aide and servant of her half-brother, and worked as an administrator in the Treasury.

Eventually, her care for Niveus, his desperate urge to prove himself to the Lucretia matriarch, and her position in the Treasury would lead to her being a key figure in [[Publius Lucretia Favonius]]’ Treasury heist, with Nahri being responsible for entering and changing the combination lock. She would flee Rome with the new keys, her fate unknown to even her brother.

===[[Niveus Lucretia Argentarius]]===
The eldest son of a branch family of the Lucretia family. He was handpicked by the Lucretia matriarch after observing his promising business acumen from a young age during visits to the capital with his parents, and later sponsored and brought into the capital for the same reason.

As opposed to the three direct descendants of the main house, Niveus was staunchly dedicated to the mercantile work of Lucretia, and was the reason for the '''Lucretia Market''''s success

Though not necessarily upstanding at all times, Niveus’ unconventional but devoted business methods allowed him to thoroughly eliminate competition in the long run, sabotaging other organisations such as [[BreadCorp]], guiding their late leader’s ambitions that would eventually drive him to death and the group’s decline. He would also conspire with his accomplices to poison supplies of bread supplied in the group’s later days to charity groups, decreasing their credibility while handing out his own supplies to gain favorability. The ludicrous benefits of secure transactions and customers brought about by the Lucretia market under his jurisdiction led to many independent vendors associating or establishing stalls and branches in its vicinity, and Niveus would make profits of tens of thousands of denarii per day.

His bold success as a merchant was instrumental to Lucretia’s financing of their generous staff wages, which ensured part of the loyalty their estate workers had that prevented an earlier usurpal in the matriarch’s plans, as well as the later return of many of them to their positions after Octavia rose to the position of mater familias.

Niveus’ dedication to merchant work was partly due to his relationship with his half-sister, Nahri, whom he takes care of and feels deeply responsible for. His fixation on commerce as a means to surpass the typical gap between patrician and plebeian was born about by their different treatments in childhood in spite of being nominal siblings, and his devotion to the Lucretia matriarch both before and after her death was due to her insistence on retaining equal opportunities and rights for patricians and plebeians.

Like many of the other Lucretia children, Niveus would also be romantically involved with a man of plebeian birth by the name of [[Atticus Eirena]], and Niveus would later attempt to take his own life in the Temple of Jupiter upon hearing news of his passing during the [[Optimates Rebellion]] on the battlefield. Comforted by another plebeian bearing the same pink hair as his lover, said plebeian would then murder Niveus in his home, though his body and death would never be discovered. Niveus is still presumed missing to this day by the remaining members of House Lucretia.

They believe the then-current structure of the republic, though flawed, is far preferable to an empire or any alternatives, both for their interests as a house and for the common people. Children of the house are raised to handle some degree of commerce, business, and trade at a young age through proximity with the Lucretia market, though there is no obligation to commit themselves to merchantry.

Direct descendents of the main house are often encouraged to dabble in their individual talents once discovered, whether that be in the sword, arts, or any other area of interest. Located in the capital, the status of the market and the degree of prosperity it currently has are a good reflection of the status of the house's wealth and standing. Amalgamating of contacts from branch families, relatives, and current partners in the capital, the Lucretia market is intentioned to be a controlled competitor to independently-owned businesses, both patrician and plebeian, to prevent inaccessible resources and goods in times of economic strife or personal struggle.

Though House Lucretia has a vast collection of wealth throughout their long history, the primary source of their flow of commerce in the current day exists through Lucretia market.

It was run successfully by [[Niveus Lucretia Argentarius]] during the events of FOTR.

One of Rome's premier newspapers, the Res Publica was penned by [[Cinna Lucretia Cento]], [[Octavia Lucretia Verus Helvia]], [[Kavaria Catia]], and [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]] at varying periods of time. Its creation was spearheaded by the late matriarch of the Lucretia family after the Illegitimates Scandal, fearing that a certain influence among the general populace would be necessary to combat her political rivals.

As the matriarch grew more preoccupied with her duties in the senate, Cinna, Octavia, and Kavaria were all inducted into its anonymous workforce due to their proximity to precarious intelligence in the republic and their acumen with the pen. For the majority of its tenure, beyond simply monitoring and inciting distrust against rival politicians and patrician houses, Res Publica sought also to educate the common Roman people of happenings that the higher nobility attempted to restrict, and promote both the free-flowing of plebeian endeavours and opportunities and persecute patrician wrongdoing for accountability.

The Servi Dramatis were a theatrical organization within the Roman Republic dedicated to the arts of drama, music, and dance. Founded in 50 BC by [[Millicent Bellius]], the troupe began as a small collective of performers before steadily expanding its ranks.

== Story ==
By 49 BC, the Servi Dramatis had become a familiar sight throughout Rome, staging lighthearted musicals, plays, and public performances in taverns, marketplaces, and shops across the city. Their productions earned widespread acclaim, and the organization developed a reputation as a politically neutral institution amidst the growing instability that gripped the Republic. While Rome became increasingly divided by factional conflict, the Servi Dramatis remained committed to entertaining the public, welcoming audiences regardless of political allegiance.

As their numbers grew to include actors, musicians, playwrights, and stagehands, the troupe undertook its most ambitious production yet. In 48 BC, as civil war threatened to engulf the Republic, the Servi Dramatis premiered a grand theatrical performance that would forever secure their place in Roman history.

The performance was so extraordinary that both sides of the conflict agreed to lay down their arms for a single day in order to witness it. The production became known as the "'''Ludus Deorum'''" or '''Play of the Gods''', not only for its masterful retelling of divine myths, but because many spectators believed the gods themselves had blessed the performance. == Origins ==
House Lucretia is a long-standing patrician family with a lengthy history and generations of honor to uphold. Historically, they have been present since the Kingdom of Rome, and played a pivotal role in overthrowing the Etruscan Kings.

In the present days, they focus on mercantile institutions— markets, guilds, and trade— and desire to uphold personal justice and fairness in their operations. As such, private wealth and resources have never been a particular concern to them, and they seek to spread welfare to those who deserve it. Public interest and the preservation of a republic serve them best in continuing their operations. Those who ally and work with them fondly will be met with generous reparations, while those who act against the interests of the people and impede on the preservation of prosperity will also be met with a suitable degree of recompense.

They also piously worship the goddess Minerva and lord Mercury, as part of their investment in trade and merchantry, of whom they make regular sacrifices and offerings to.

Aemilia was the late matriarch (mater familias) of the Lucretia family. Raised as a loyalist to Rome, she worked tirelessly both for the management of the household and for the management of the nation.

During her work as a senator, she passed multiple notable bills, including the '''Civil Business bill''', the bill dictating the formation of a judiciary branch and the civilian right to trial. While controversial to the optimates, the matriarch was also deeply sympathetic to the plebeian class, passing and proposing open senate floor meetings, civilian governor elections, tax restructuring policies, worker food stipends, plebeian grain rights, and more. Her policies led to her friendship with the Tribune [[Marcus Verus Sol]] and [[Lucius Aurelion-Vulpēculus]] prior to her demotion.

In her later life, after many decades had passed after the former matriarch consort’s death, she solicited a relationship with [[Aesta Vilica]], the plebeian Lucretia estate manager. The two were given blessings by the other estate staff for the relationship in spite of its controversy, before Aesta was then outed for practising heresy and worshipping the Greek goddess Athena on the estate grounds. She was seized by senator [[Lucius Aurelion-Vulpēculus]], judge [[Rubricus Fulgens]], Chief Priest [[Cinna Lucretia Cento]], as well as other members of their party both from the clergy and [[House Aurelion]]. After her apprehension at the Lucretia estate, she was escorted to the Temple of Jupiter, but after being possessed by the heretic god Mithras, Aesta received a fatal wound and died in the arms of the Lucretia matriarch during [[Aesta Vilica's Trial]].

After this, Aemilia was tried due to initially resisting Aesta’s arrest and for housing, marrying, and giving a plebeian the resources to become a heretic. Here, she was demoted and sentenced to house arrest, as well as duties serving the temple under the then Pontifex Maximus, Beneminius Fulminii.

However, due to his neglect and dereliction of his duties at the time, Aemilia escaped monitoring and staged a plot to ‘restore the balance of the Republic’, leading the ignorant staff of the Lucretia estate to carry out seizure of the Treasury with her uncle’s help, as well as fall prey to and worship in the [[Cult of Mithras]]. After slaying multiple legionnaires and two consuls during [[Aemilia's Revolt]], she was finally apprehended by [[Flavius Zekor Gracchus]] and Legio IV, killed during arrest after refusing to comply in time with their demands to drop her weapons.

===[[Publius Lucretia Favonius]]===
Acting as the uncle of the late Lucretia matriarch, Publius was raised in Rome and took up residence in the Lucretia estate in the capital due to his position as the Governor of Mining. After having served Rome loyally for many years, in his later tenure, he began pocketing funds from the state-owned mining facilities through his decades of built-up relationships with many of the officials involved.

Prioritising money and power above all else, his friendship with members of Legio V allowed him to carry out the [[Heist of the Treasury]] as per Aemilia’s plans with their aid, first changing the locks on the entrance to the Treasury and preventing legionnaire wages from being paid, leading to a revolt, and later stealing 250K denarii and disappearing with them by dispersing the liquidised assets among trusted accomplices. He was executed in custody following his arrest, the stolen denarius never recovered.

===[[Octavia Lucretia Verus Helvia]]===
Formerly known as '''Octavia Lucretia Tricipinus''', she is the eldest of the three daughters of [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. Known as a graceful and friendly socialite in her youth, Octavia rose to the position as the current matriarch of the Lucretia family following her mother’s death. Because of the Lucretia sisters’ standing with the clergy, their patrician title was never revoked in spite of the late matriarch’s fall from grace.

In her personal life, Octavia is close friends with Chief Priest [[Nefarius Umbrum Porpus]] and many members of the [[Servi Dramatis]]. In spite of their difference in status, she married Octavia Verus Helvia due to their shared history and propensity for the arts. She was friendly and well-loved by the servants of the Lucretia estate, with Octavia treating many of them like family.

During her mother’s revolt, she took part unwillingly and was not aware of the true extent of Aemilia’s crimes, later focusing on sheltering the other unwillingly implicated members of the estate from execution after her mother’s death. She would inherit the estate after the trials of all estate members and participants in the revolt were completed, and she would re-hire and take in many of those still remaining from the original estate staff.

===[[Sinis Lucretia Tricipinus]]===
The second daughter of [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. While not as pious as her sisters, Sinus served as a legionnaire in Legio III, and was tried and interrogated as part of the seizure of Legio III prior to her mother’s demotion in senate.

She was previously engaged and married to [[Nicus Cato]], before breaking off their arrangement after her mother’s removal from senate following Aesta’s death. During Aemilia’s revolt, she took part in slaying two consuls, multiple legionnaires, and hiding her mother from the search party seeking to apprehend her while also worshipping the heretic god Mithras. Later, she would lure [[Metella Cento]], the chief blacksmith of the Lucretia estate, to the amphitheatre before murdering her and putting her head on a pike.

She would be arrested for her participation in Aemilia’s revolt, but spared of execution due to her status. Because of the lack of witnesses tying her to Metella’s death, it would be pinned on [[Pancakeus Umbra]] who murdered another Roman in a similar manner, and was currently being tried for heresy. Sinus would walk free, though both her sisters urged her to leave Rome due to the public sentiment towards her.

Before Sinis fled Rome, [[Jestius Cento]], Metella’s adoptive brother, would force her to cut off her right arm after discovering her involvement in his sister’s murder.

===[[Cinna Lucretia Cento]]===
Formerly known as '''Cinna Lucretia Tricipinus''', she was the youngest daughter of [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. Raised originally as her mother’s heir, she was pushed to enter the [[Roman Clergy]] and rose to a position of Chief Priest as the Pontifex Caeli. Later, due to the Pontifices going missing after the massacre of House Verus, she rose to power alongside [[Nefarius Umbrum Porpus]] and [[Jianna]].

From childhood, she was a close confidant and associate in her mother’s machinations behind the scenes, acting as an anonymous chief writer in the '''Res Publica''' and dealing and gathering intel for her mother’s plans. She is also a director in the [[Servi Dramatis]] for much of the same reason; her mother’s emphasis on controlling media sentiment.

Alongside Octavia and Niveus, she took part in assisting her mother with her senatorial duties, drafting and working on bills with Aemilia in her later life, such as the Stability Act, the Courtesy Act, and Aemilia’s push for judiciary powers. With Niveus and her uncle Publius, both assisted him in his embezzlement from the treasury.

Within the clergy, Cinna was inserted as part of her mother’s hopes to monitor the unrest in the Republic, and while pious, was not especially devout prior to entering the temple. As time passed, she grew close to members of the clergy, such as judge [[Rubricus Fulgens]], [[Eugenia]], and [[Lucius Aurelion-Vulpēculus]]. The four would eventually band together to form the '''Heretic Hunters''' unofficially, as they were designated the responsibility of investigating the activities of heretics in Rome, specifically the [[Cult of Mithras]], because of their overwhelming achievement alongside Legion II in apprehending cultists.

Due to her friendship with these three, she would eventually betray her mother during her [[Aemilia's Revolt]], choosing to side with those seeking to apprehend and trial her. Her participation in aiding in her mother’s capture, as well as her being the initial informant of Aemilia’s plans, would exclude her guilt in the subsequent Lucretia trials.

Months after her mother’s death and after the trials conclude, she would be wedded to [[Jestius Cento]].

===[[Nahri Lucretia Argentarius]]===
An illegitimate daughter from a branch family of the main house, she is the plebeian half-sister of [[Niveus Lucretia Argentarius]]. Nahri moved to the capital as an aide and servant of her half-brother, and worked as an administrator in the Treasury.

Eventually, her care for Niveus, his desperate urge to prove himself to the Lucretia matriarch, and her position in the Treasury would lead to her being a key figure in [[Publius Lucretia Favonius]]’ Treasury heist, with Nahri being responsible for entering and changing the combination lock. She would flee Rome with the new keys, her fate unknown to even her brother.

===[[Niveus Lucretia Argentarius]]===
The eldest son of a branch family of the Lucretia family. He was handpicked by the Lucretia matriarch after observing his promising business acumen from a young age during visits to the capital with his parents, and later sponsored and brought into the capital for the same reason.

As opposed to the three direct descendants of the main house, Niveus was staunchly dedicated to the mercantile work of Lucretia, and was the reason for the '''Lucretia Market''''s success

Though not necessarily upstanding at all times, Niveus’ unconventional but devoted business methods allowed him to thoroughly eliminate competition in the long run, sabotaging other organisations such as [[BreadCorp]], guiding their late leader’s ambitions that would eventually drive him to death and the group’s decline. He would also conspire with his accomplices to poison supplies of bread supplied in the group’s later days to charity groups, decreasing their credibility while handing out his own supplies to gain favorability. The ludicrous benefits of secure transactions and customers brought about by the Lucretia market under his jurisdiction led to many independent vendors associating or establishing stalls and branches in its vicinity, and Niveus would make profits of tens of thousands of denarii per day.

His bold success as a merchant was instrumental to Lucretia’s financing of their generous staff wages, which ensured part of the loyalty their estate workers had that prevented an earlier usurpal in the matriarch’s plans, as well as the later return of many of them to their positions after Octavia rose to the position of mater familias.

Niveus’ dedication to merchant work was partly due to his relationship with his half-sister, Nahri, whom he takes care of and feels deeply responsible for. His fixation on commerce as a means to surpass the typical gap between patrician and plebeian was born about by their different treatments in childhood in spite of being nominal siblings, and his devotion to the Lucretia matriarch both before and after her death was due to her insistence on retaining equal opportunities and rights for patricians and plebeians.

Like many of the other Lucretia children, Niveus would also be romantically involved with a man of plebeian birth by the name of [[Atticus Eirena]], and Niveus would later attempt to take his own life in the Temple of Jupiter upon hearing news of his passing during the [[Optimates Rebellion]] on the battlefield. Comforted by another plebeian bearing the same pink hair as his lover, said plebeian would then murder Niveus in his home, though his body and death would never be discovered. Niveus is still presumed missing to this day by the remaining members of House Lucretia.

While controversial to the optimates, the matriarch was also deeply sympathetic to the plebeian class, passing and proposing open senate floor meetings, civilian governor elections, tax restructuring policies, worker food stipends, plebeian grain rights, and more. Her policies led to her friendship with the Tribune [[Marcus Verus Sol]] and [[Lucius Aurelion-Vulpēculus]] prior to her demotion.

In her later life, after many decades had passed after the former matriarch consort’s death, she solicited a relationship with [[Aesta Vilica]], the plebeian Lucretia estate manager. The two were given blessings by the other estate staff for the relationship in spite of its controversy, before Aesta was then outed for practising heresy and worshipping the Greek goddess Athena on the estate grounds. She was seized by senator [[Lucius Aurelion-Vulpēculus]], judge [[Rubricus Fulgens]], Chief Priest [[Cinna Lucretia Cento]], as well as other members of their party both from the clergy and [[House Aurelion]]. After her apprehension at the Lucretia estate, she was escorted to the Temple of Jupiter, but after being possessed by the heretic god Mithras, Aesta received a fatal wound and died in the arms of the Lucretia matriarch during [[Aesta Vilica's Trial]].

After this, Aemilia was tried due to initially resisting Aesta’s arrest and for housing, marrying, and giving a plebeian the resources to become a heretic. Here, she was demoted and sentenced to house arrest, as well as duties serving the temple under the then Pontifex Maximus, Beneminius Fulminii.

However, due to his neglect and dereliction of his duties at the time, Aemilia escaped monitoring and staged a plot to ‘restore the balance of the Republic’, leading the ignorant staff of the Lucretia estate to carry out seizure of the Treasury with her uncle’s help, as well as fall prey to and worship in the [[Cult of Mithras]]. After slaying multiple legionnaires and two consuls during [[Aemilia's Revolt]], she was finally apprehended by [[Flavius Zekor Gracchus]] and Legio IV, killed during arrest after refusing to comply in time with their demands to drop her weapons.

Acting as the uncle of the late Lucretia matriarch, Publius was raised in Rome and took up residence in the Lucretia estate in the capital due to his position as the Governor of Mining. After having served Rome loyally for many years, in his later tenure, he began pocketing funds from the state-owned mining facilities through his decades of built-up relationships with many of the officials involved.

Prioritising money and power above all else, his friendship with members of Legio V allowed him to carry out the [[Heist of the Treasury]] as per Aemilia’s plans with their aid, first changing the locks on the entrance to the Treasury and preventing legionnaire wages from being paid, leading to a revolt, and later stealing 250K denarii and disappearing with them by dispersing the liquidised assets among trusted accomplices. He was executed in custody following his arrest, the stolen denarius never recovered.

Formerly known as '''Octavia Lucretia Tricipinus''', she is the eldest of the three daughters of [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. Known as a graceful and friendly socialite in her youth, Octavia rose to the position as the current matriarch of the Lucretia family following her mother’s death. Because of the Lucretia sisters’ standing with the clergy, their patrician title was never revoked in spite of the late matriarch’s fall from grace.

In her personal life, Octavia is close friends with Chief Priest [[Nefarius Umbrum Porpus]] and many members of the [[Servi Dramatis]]. In spite of their difference in status, she married Octavia Verus Helvia due to their shared history and propensity for the arts. She was friendly and well-loved by the servants of the Lucretia estate, with Octavia treating many of them like family.

During her mother’s revolt, she took part unwillingly and was not aware of the true extent of Aemilia’s crimes, later focusing on sheltering the other unwillingly implicated members of the estate from execution after her mother’s death. She would inherit the estate after the trials of all estate members and participants in the revolt were completed, and she would re-hire and take in many of those still remaining from the original estate staff.

The second daughter of [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. While not as pious as her sisters, Sinus served as a legionnaire in Legio III, and was tried and interrogated as part of the seizure of Legio III prior to her mother’s demotion in senate.

She was previously engaged and married to [[Nicus Cato]], before breaking off their arrangement after her mother’s removal from senate following Aesta’s death. During Aemilia’s revolt, she took part in slaying two consuls, multiple legionnaires, and hiding her mother from the search party seeking to apprehend her while also worshipping the heretic god Mithras. Later, she would lure [[Metella Cento]], the chief blacksmith of the Lucretia estate, to the amphitheatre before murdering her and putting her head on a pike.

She would be arrested for her participation in Aemilia’s revolt, but spared of execution due to her status. Because of the lack of witnesses tying her to Metella’s death, it would be pinned on [[Pancakeus Umbra]] who murdered another Roman in a similar manner, and was currently being tried for heresy. Sinus would walk free, though both her sisters urged her to leave Rome due to the public sentiment towards her.

Before Sinis fled Rome, [[Jestius Cento]], Metella’s adoptive brother, would force her to cut off her right arm after discovering her involvement in his sister’s murder.

From childhood, she was a close confidant and associate in her mother’s machinations behind the scenes, acting as an anonymous chief writer in the '''Res Publica''' and dealing and gathering intel for her mother’s plans. She is also a director in the [[Servi Dramatis]] for much of the same reason; her mother’s emphasis on controlling media sentiment.

Alongside Octavia and Niveus, she took part in assisting her mother with her senatorial duties, drafting and working on bills with Aemilia in her later life, such as the Stability Act, the Courtesy Act, and Aemilia’s push for judiciary powers. With Niveus and her uncle Publius, both assisted him in his embezzlement from the treasury.

Within the clergy, Cinna was inserted as part of her mother’s hopes to monitor the unrest in the Republic, and while pious, was not especially devout prior to entering the temple. She would flee Rome with the new keys, her fate unknown to even her brother.

As opposed to the three direct descendants of the main house, Niveus was staunchly dedicated to the mercantile work of Lucretia, and was the reason for the '''Lucretia Market''''s success

Though not necessarily upstanding at all times, Niveus’ unconventional but devoted business methods allowed him to thoroughly eliminate competition in the long run, sabotaging other organisations such as [[BreadCorp]], guiding their late leader’s ambitions that would eventually drive him to death and the group’s decline. He would also conspire with his accomplices to poison supplies of bread supplied in the group’s later days to charity groups, decreasing their credibility while handing out his own supplies to gain favorability. The ludicrous benefits of secure transactions and customers brought about by the Lucretia market under his jurisdiction led to many independent vendors associating or establishing stalls and branches in its vicinity, and Niveus would make profits of tens of thousands of denarii per day.

His bold success as a merchant was instrumental to Lucretia’s financing of their generous staff wages, which ensured part of the loyalty their estate workers had that prevented an earlier usurpal in the matriarch’s plans, as well as the later return of many of them to their positions after Octavia rose to the position of mater familias.

Niveus’ dedication to merchant work was partly due to his relationship with his half-sister, Nahri, whom he takes care of and feels deeply responsible for. His fixation on commerce as a means to surpass the typical gap between patrician and plebeian was born about by their different treatments in childhood in spite of being nominal siblings, and his devotion to the Lucretia matriarch both before and after her death was due to her insistence on retaining equal opportunities and rights for patricians and plebeians.

Like many of the other Lucretia children, Niveus would also be romantically involved with a man of plebeian birth by the name of [[Atticus Eirena]], and Niveus would later attempt to take his own life in the Temple of Jupiter upon hearing news of his passing during the [[Optimates Rebellion]] on the battlefield. ==Biography==
Publius, much like his namesake suggests, is a man dedicated to serving the public. A shrewd intellectual, he is dedicated to ensuring the republic, above all else, survives and prospers. Born into the Favonius branch of [[House Lucretia]], much of Publius’ childhood revolved around seaborne mercantile trade. He would accompany his family on their voyages, seeing many great cities, including Alexandria, Athens, Antioch, and Rhodes. While these voyages centered on trade, he picked up on the intellectual tradition in each. The great philosophies of Athens, the development of the sciences in Alexandria - all served to build up Publius’ intellectual foundation. On the sailing between cities, he would take his time to read the tomes they purchased from the cities - a pastime he carried into his adulthood.

As an adult, he began taking on more responsibilities in the family: managing seaborne trade, balancing the budgets of the various convoys under the family’s control. While most of his family focused on bartering spices and other such luxury goods, Publius sought another commodity: precious metals. He used the wealth from the convoys he controlled to diversify by acquiring mining outposts and colonies, from which he would use his merchant convoys to ship goods to larger markets. Iron, especially, proved to be a lucrative investment as the Roman army would need ever-increasing amounts to arm their legions for further conquests. But aside from iron, commodities such as gold, diamonds, rubies, and other precious materials proved lucrative in Rome. This would bring Publius’ family in competition with the main branch of Gens Lucretia, which was long entrenched in the capital.

By this time, Publius had reached middle age and had a great deal of experience under his belt. His Favonius upbringing ingrained in him the importance of pragmatic stability. The heir of Gens Lucretia was unwed, and Publius had a good number of sons to spare. Long had the two branches separated since the founder of the Favonius branch, Antonius, married a plebian. Now, the opportunity for reconciliation was at its highest. Both branches had something to offer the other: Tricipinus dominated land-based trade, whereas Favonius dominated the sea-based trade. To avoid conflict with each other and to preserve the main line of the Tricipinus branch, Publius wed one of his sons in a matrilineal marriage to [[Aemilia Lucretia Tricipinus]]. The wedding was fruitful, but sadly did not last, as Publius’ son died in a great catastrophe that took a great deal of his family as well. Publius was struck by grief, but maintained his composure for the sake of his grandchildren.

Publius sold his estate and moved in with Aemilia, to help her out while she focused on her growing political career. Publius continued his own enterprise, but slowly sold off his convoys to his siblings and other members of the Favonius branch to concentrate his holdings in the mining sector. Eventually, his amassed wealth and managerial experience led to him embracing a political career of his own; he would lobby for more plebian rights and control like the founder Antonius did. Eventually, he would seek public service in the Roman Administration - utilizing his experience to benefit the greater republic as a whole and chart a stable course.

Her husband fostered a deep desire, as most Roman men, for glory and accomplishment. Gaius was a man of wealth, who disagreed with the principles of equity put forth by his brother Lucius. He took his differences to his grave, when he died of disease during the harshest winter of Rome's recent past. A sobering reminder that Death strikes with equal fervor the patricians and plebeians alike.

In most marriages, Aurelia would have returned to her family and former name, as her marriage was sine manus, but she petitioned Lucius to remain with the Valerii, citing the favor of Juno Regina and her ability to bring honor to the family despite the unusual circumstances. Now she remains as one of Lucius's most loyal allies within the family, although insiders could note they maintain their differences.

Aurelia now acts as the matron of the Valerii gens, as the oldest woman of the family. She manages the affairs of the house to take some strain from Lucius's shoulders, and makes frequent offerings to Juno Regina to pray for the continued success of the family that has become hers.

As an augur of the [[Roman Clergy]], Aurelia is a true believer in the gods, but she deeply understands the power held by an augur's soothsaying. Unlike her brother-in-law, the senator, Aurelia struggles to affect the world around her ever since her husband's death. Involvement in philosophy and politics are the only reminders she has of Gaius. To bring honor to his family and legacy, she will bend the truth wherever it is necessary. Yet, she always records the truest interpretations of her auguries privately. ==Biography==
Aurelia Valeria is a member of [[House Valerius]] by marriage, not by blood. As a much younger woman, she married Gaius Valerius Cato; a young brother of [[Lucius Valerius Cato]]. Her husband fostered a deep desire, as most Roman men, for glory and accomplishment. Gaius was a man of wealth, who disagreed with the principles of equity put forth by his brother Lucius. He took his differences to his grave, when he died of disease during the harshest winter of Rome's recent past. A sobering reminder that Death strikes with equal fervor the patricians and plebeians alike.

In most marriages, Aurelia would have returned to her family and former name, as her marriage was sine manus, but she petitioned Lucius to remain with the Valerii, citing the favor of Juno Regina and her ability to bring honor to the family despite the unusual circumstances. Now she remains as one of Lucius's most loyal allies within the family, although insiders could note they maintain their differences.

Aurelia now acts as the matron of the Valerii gens, as the oldest woman of the family. She manages the affairs of the house to take some strain from Lucius's shoulders, and makes frequent offerings to Juno Regina to pray for the continued success of the family that has become hers.

As an augur of the [[Roman Clergy]], Aurelia is a true believer in the gods, but she deeply understands the power held by an augur's soothsaying. Unlike her brother-in-law, the senator, Aurelia struggles to affect the world around her ever since her husband's death. Involvement in philosophy and politics are the only reminders she has of Gaius. To bring honor to his family and legacy, she will bend the truth wherever it is necessary. Yet, she always records the truest interpretations of her auguries privately. She never strays far from the true messages sent by the gods -- but symbolic messages can easily be muddied by the preconceptions of the mind, and Aurelia takes full advantage of that. No matter her sympathies and excuses.

The Valerius clan is one which prioritizes popularist equity. She believes that she is taking the sin of bending interpretations upon her own shoulders to spare the people of Rome, that this outcome is favorable to Juno Regina as its' protector. Aurelia tells herself that she uses this power for the benefit of the people -- the truth in that, we shall see.
