Biography

Aemilia was the sole child of the head of Gens Lucretia, being the sole heir and proprietor of the house, her childhood was geared towards learning and leading. Upon her shoulders rested the legacy and prestige of one of the eldest and wealthiest clans of the Roman Republic. Eventually when she came of age, she would get married matrilinerally with someone from a lesser clan. It was a political and loveless marriage, but one that had to be done for the sake of the clan.

Having to deal with the weight of her situation she worked alongside her husband, who despite being forcefully married, grew to enjoy his wife's presence. They would work together a significant amount on their business and preparations for the future— at least until the sudden passing of her father due to health complications, leaving her husband as the Patriarch of Gens Lucretia. He would subsequently get elected into a Senator position out of respect for the Clan, thus leaving the business affairs to Aemilia herself, ensuring she would be locked into the constant ebb and tide of work. Aemilia eventually would birth three daughters in spite of wanting to have a son, all of whom she would eventually neglect in favour of her duties, all in dedication to supporting her husband's career and her family business. Whilst deep down she loved her children, her heart was torn by the expectations of not only her late father but her peers to not only maintain but grow the prestige of Gens Lucretia.

Yet this state of affairs would not last; shortly following her becoming pregnant with her third daughter, her husband would pass in a horrific incident, one which she refuses to speak upon, yet one that profoundly changed the trajectory of her life. Without any male heirs in Gens Lucretia, she would suddenly become its Matriarch. Quickly taking on her husband's role in the Senate, her workload went from significant to overbearing. Her children became secondary nuisances as she went into political overdrive, attempting to clean up the aftermath of the incident. This would lead to her adopting two of her nephews from a sister branch of her Clan. Whilst these boys could not take over her family, they could prove to be better heirs. After all, Rome could have trouble accepting another generation of Matrilineal leadership in one the most powerful families.

Though she would find herself in further scandal having taken on a pregnancy from an imposter, she would birth her final child. A son, something she always wanted but an heir she could not have, being an illegitimate child and such. Thus, once again, she was forced to abandon her child in favour of politics. Aemilia knew she could not fail, not after she got this far.
