In the midst of this, he was responsible for his plebeian half-sister, who he cared about dearly. He saw innocence and joy, and she reflected it back. While Niveus' childhood was not awful necessarily, he still lacked warmth which he saw all around him, and his sibling filled the void to a certain degree. He is thankful for her for that.

This calm life was, however, periodically undercut by the snippiness of other patricians. Niveus was always loathed, with him being seen as “a man who has forgotten his place” and as a naive and misguided dreamer. Weirdly enough, said patricians were also the ones who were harassed in public by the local workers. He was always overjoyed by that.

Biography

Niveus is a distant cousin of House Lucretia from which his parents hail. In his formative years, he learned the ways of the trade, standing around the market, watching his parents’ workers—plebeian merchants and labourers—from whom he learned a fair amount. From a young age, he understood the importance of plebeians—hard-working people who toil—and people who are almost on equal footing with him... almost.

He also saw how mistreated they were, which baffled him. “Why mistreat the ones making you who you are?”, he thought back then and still thinks today.

After the untimely demise of his parents in a fire, he took control of their enterprise, trying to improve the lives of his underlings, improving their wages and living standards. As a result of their strained relationship, he was nigh entirely unmoved by their passing.

An oddity which his political rivals pointed out at the time was that he, according to them, had a tendency of framing himself as the saviour of plebeians, even to the point he slandered other people's attempts at reform, which were nearly identical to his. Critics called it hypocrisy and arrogance, while he maintained he wanted action done correctly—not halfheartedly.

In the midst of this, he was responsible for his plebeian half-sister, Nahri Lucretia Argentarius, who he cared about dearly.

After reaching the ripe age of 24, he moved to the centre of Rome, with his sister by his side, with the aim of impacting the lives of more workers positively. Admittedly, he did require some financing from the Lucretia House, which bothered him. However, he swallowed his pride, reassuring himself that here, he could properly serve Rome, one worker at a time.
