Origins

House Aurelion is a long-established patrician family of foreign origin, tracing its roots to Hellenic mercenaries who entered Roman service generations ago and while the name now exists comfortably within Roman society its foundation was not born from citizenship tradition or inheritance but from men who arrived as outsiders carrying discipline philosophy and a way of war that Rome did not yet fully understand but quickly learned to depend on.

The earliest Aurelion were not citizens, but Greek commanders leading disciplined companies of soldiers across the eastern territories. They were known not for loyalty to any one state, but for consistency, cohesion, and an unwillingness to break under pressure. Roman officials, initially wary of their foreign nature, came to rely on them in campaigns where conventional forces proved insufficient.

Through continued military success and careful integration into Roman systems, the Aurelion were granted status within the Republic and eventually elevated into patrician standing. Unlike many older houses, their place was not inherited through antiquity, but secured through sustained usefulness across multiple generations.

Generations passed and with each one the house became less visibly foreign though never entirely Roman in the eyes of those who valued blood over function and yet this distance became its own advantage as the Aurelion were not bound as tightly by tradition or expectation and could move between roles military political and eventually religious with a level of adaptability that older houses often lacked and it was through this adaptability that they secured not just their place but their continuation

By the time of The Fall of the Republic, House Aurelion had become a stable, if somewhat reserved, presence within Roman society. Known for discipline and reliability, the family maintained ties to the Legion and participated in public life, though rarely at its forefront.
