Biography
The Orfidia family was once known for being individuals with tact. Not necessarily their wealth or the grandest estate - after all, they'd been conquered long, long ago by the great Republic of Rome, once Greek themselves - but rather their way of getting around. The patrician society could always spot one of the Orfidii pointing out specific errors in topics of debate, missing loopholes in a contract, weak points in logic. Though through the generations they spread out, of course, to make their name known, to increase their societal value. Farms were soon overseen by the cousins within one branch, smithies managed by another.
The Damianus branch in particular focused on wine, or rather the experimental flavoring of it. Would wine taste different if stored where the great Apollo could kiss the barrel, granting it a spicier taste? Would it taste fresher, cooler, if stored below ground deep enough for Pluto to try to take it for himself? Their various methods of new ways of wine were built on a secret: their traditions.
Though being conquered by Rome and adapting to the culture and life there, the Orfidii upheld the worship of the old Greek pantheon in secret, giving their brewed bottles to the Roman Clergy, claiming they were blessed and pure wines to offer to the gods - and they were used quite often in rituals, ceremonies, and festivals.
However, someone within the Clergy figured out the secret regarding the Orfidius wine and exposed them. Due to the heresy and how their wine had been used as offerings, the entirety of the Orfidii name was purged. Every last one of them were executed, save for the twins, who were unaware of the true depth to their parents actions.
At 14, they were forced to denounce their name and be cast into the city as Plebian citizens, their childhood estate sold, wealth gone.
Alba knew it was pointless to hunt after who'd done it. There would be no punishment for the harm brought upon his family name, for it was a good deed to the good, holy city of Rome. Instead, he joined the Clergy to merge with their people. At home, he pleaded and seethed and shed tears, vowing that he would sooner become the prime symbol of what his family was meant to be. He would make Bacchus as widely worshiped as he could, begging to make every vine in Rome wither without his touch.
At age 20, he became the Pontifex Populii and began to spread his influence.

Personality
Alba flirts. Teases, really -- and caresses the cheeks of the next pretty face beside him. He gazes at faces with half-lidded eyes and a calculated smile that rarely slips from his visage of tactical affection.
Oftentimes, Alba observes and then mingles in crowds, unafraid to walk where he pleases even though he bears horns he cannot hide. Perhaps it is that fact that boosts his confidence, knowing that it was inevitable to garner attention in this city, so he might as well embrace it. Own it, even.
Alba is a major Casanova, but takes care not to set his sights on any people who might cause him problems. He cares only about the things that truly matter to him, his personal plans as private as his personal feelings. Alba rarely opens up despite his welcoming and confident nature, refusing to allow others to know what really goes on in his mind.
Despite being a serial party-goer, he is always the last person to get drunk, making sure nothing nefarious happens at the parties he hosts.
