Description
This is a document which was created by the College of Pontiffs by then Chief Priest Alba Verus Kaine and Chief Priest Cinna Lucretia Cento during the era of heretic huntings, to state which deities are officially recognised by the Temple. These were the only deities of whom the citizens of the Republic should maintain the divine favour of.

This document lists the officially recognized gods and goddesses of the republic of Rome, with whom we focus on maintaining the pax deorum (divine favour) of.

PEACE OF THE GODS
As a member of the Clergy, our duties involve gaining and maintaining our relationship with the gods.
To appease them, we must give offerings and make sacrifices to a certain amount to prevent suffering prodigia (divine wrath).
Many signs of divine wrath include, but are not limited to:
famine, disease, floods, drought, and pestilence.
Below are the 12 major gods of the pantheon, followed by a list of recognized minor deities.

12 MAJOR GODS
I. JOVE / JUPITER
King of the gods; he rules over the sky and thunder and is the personification of divine authority. First of the Capitoline Triad.
SACRED SYMBOLS: the Lightning Bolt, Oak Trees, and the Eagle.
II. JUNO
Queen of the gods; she is a protector of women and the Roman state, a fertility goddess, and holds domain over marriage, pregnancy, & childbirth. Second of the Capitoline Triad.
SACRED SYMBOLS: the Cypress Tree, Pomegranates, Lilies, and the Lotus.
III. MINERVA
The goddess of wisdom, genius, commerce, and military strategy. Invokes creative inspiration through the forms of medicine, numbers, craftsmanship, and the arts. Last of the Capitoline Triad.
SACRED SYMBOLS: the Scales of Justice, Owls, and the Olive Tree.
IV. NEPTUNE
The god of freshwater, the sea, and horses. Held in regard to the Roman cavalry and droughts, with horse races typically hosted in his honor. Worshipped to ensure water safety and supply, often in the summers of Rome.
SACRED SYMBOLS: the Trident, Horses, and Dolphins.
V. CERES
A goddess of agriculture & fertility; known for granting abundance to plants, animals, and humans. Rules over the harvest and motherly relationships. A patron goddess of plebeian worshippers.
SACRED SYMBOLS: the Sickle, the Cornucopia, Crowns of Wheatstalks, and Poppies.
VI. VESTA
The goddess of the hearth fire, and of home. Worshipped as a goddess with dominion over the family and Roman domestic order, often promising safety and national unity.
SACRED SYMBOLS: the Sacred Eternal Fire, and the Flame.
VII. MARS
Regarded as a father of the Roman people; the god of war, an agricultural guardian, and one of the military gods of Rome.
SACRED SYMBOLS: the Spear, the Shield, Woodpeckers, and the Wolf.
VIII. APOLLO
The god of the sun, truth & order, medicine, and the arts. Specialises in music and poetry, as well as archery. Known for a connection to prophecy and oracles.
SACRED SYMBOLS: the Sun, the Lyre, the Bow & Arrow, and the Laurel.
IX. DIANA
The goddess of virginity, the wilderness, & the moon. A divine huntress with ties to witchcraft and magic; a protector of the lower class.
SACRED SYMBOLS: the Crescent Moon, Deer, Hunting Dogs, and the Bow & Quiver.
X. VENUS
The goddess of desires and fertility. She reigns over bodily desires such as love, sex, and beauty, as well as prosperity in vegetation, gardens, and vineyards. The mother of Aeneas, ancestor of the Roman people.
SACRED SYMBOLS: Roses, Myrtle, the Conch Shell, Doves, and the Morning Star.
XI. VULCAN / VULCANUS
The god of fire, volcanoes, deserts, and the forge. Known as a master craftsman of the gods and mastery as a blacksmith, he forged divine weapons and armors for gods and heroes alike.
SACRED SYMBOLS: the Blacksmith’s Hammer, the Forge, and Volcanoes.
XII. MERCURY
The psychopomp guide that leads souls to the Underworld. God of commerce, financial gain, communication, languages, luck, thieves, travellers, and tricksters.
SACRED SYMBOLS: the Caduceus, the Winged Hat, Tortoises, the Rooster and the Ram.

The god of the Underworld and judge of the dead.
FLORA
The goddess of spring, flowers, & gardens.
SATURN
The god of time, agriculture, abundance, & wealth; reigned over the golden age.
TERRA
The goddess of the earth & nature; mother of the living.
TRIVIA
The goddess of crossroads, magic, & the night; an epithet of Diana.
VICTORIA
The goddess of victory.
BACCHUS
The god of wine-making, festivities, fertility, liberation, theatre.
HONOS
The god of morality & military honor.
PARCAE
The triad of the Goddesses of Fate; Clotho, Lachesis, & Atropos.
